about
When primal meets primeval
lyrics
In a time now long ago, A frozen age of ice and snow
Across the tundra and steppes, he roams, In the glacial mountains he makes his home
Titan, Mammoth, Behemoth, Colossal Beast, Armored and Tusked
Khan of the Steppes, Arctic King, Lord of the Tundra, Ruler of the Peaks
Trumpet sounds, rocks come down
Pounding snow, cold winds blow
Sheets of ice, piercing cries
Frosted hide, slow demise!
Avalanche, one last gasp
Glacial tomb, frozen doom
Swallowed whole by winter's maw
Mammuthus awaits the thaw!
Centuries pass still buried under snow, Glaciers move down ever so slow
Preserved in tact under permafrost, Frozen in time his rage never lost
Barbarian tribe, Neanderthals, Hunting in the pass, find the frozen God
Primitive minds, cower in awe, Fall and worship the Ice Mammoth!
Brave the ice and cold and frost, sacrifice to Mammuthus
Bring them forth tide in a row, rival tribe Cro-Magnon Foe
Place their heads upon the stone, smash with clubs breaking through bone
Ground now slick with brains and gore, Mammoth stirs, shatters ice with roar!
Freed from the Ages, he opens his eyes, seeing the world once more
Thawing power, ancient bones move, trapped in time no more
Rise of the Mammoth, shatters his cage, bellowed hate to the skies!
Titanic hunger, strange humanoids, a feast from their demise!
Tribe now dead and crushed, Broken bodies impaled on tusks
Engorged on flesh, blood and bone, Mammoth again is free to roam
Frozen world of ice his domain, Roams the tundras and frozen plains
Nomadic beast, Tyrant of Cold, God of War, Ice, and Snow!
Stomp and smash and bellow and crush, Trample, and pummel and pound them to dust
Fury, rage, primordial hate, Epic mass reduce all to paste
Slumbering giant asleep no more, Ascends his throne Demi-God of Gore
Tribe now flees to escape his wrath, Avalanche of rage, death in the pass
Grab their spears and atlatls, attempt to fight the Mountain God
Thawed by the Sun, awoke by its rays, Missiles and spears attract his gaze!
Mammuthus! Freed by the Thaw! Frozen God! The Ice Mammoth!
Carnivorous! Behemoth! Frozen God! The Ice Mammoth!

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
This album being played over the PA system at the museum where Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory" is housed is what caused the faces of the clocks in the painting to melt. meeko
A very solid black metal album with a great use of orchestral elements that adds a good bit of atmosphere. The Tolkien influences and themes are a great bonus. 7/10 RJ
I will readily and openly admit I’m not a big death metal guy, but this album has such a perfect blend of death and black metal that it was basically love at first blast beat. It combines all my favorite aspects of death and black metal with basically none of the parts I don’t like, so I can’t help but recommend this one. It grabs you by the throat from the moment it starts and doesn’t stop till the end. Kirk Gauthier
